THE FINEST HOURS
WRITTEN BY-MADHAV D TANDEL
Summary:-
“The Finest Hours” tells the story of an incredible 1950s rescue mission, in which a four-man band of Coast Guard troops went above and beyond the call of duty, bracing themselves out into impossible sea conditions in the pitch black night to reach a sinking oil tanker. It is a movie depicting four coast guards going beyond their limits against the brutality of the ocean to save the crew members trapped on the sinking ship In February of 1952, one of the destructive storms to ever hit the East Coast struck New England, vandalizing an oil tanker off the coast of Cape Cod and literally breaking it in half. On a small lifeboat faced with freezing temperatures and extremely dangerous tidal surge . four members of the Coast Guard compel themselves to rescue more than 30 helpless sailors trapped aboard the rapidly-sinking vessel.
Learning from the movie:-
the movie (The Finest Hours) teaches us to see life in a very different perspective . the movie describes that no matter how difficult the situation is or even if the chances of success is 0.01 percent you should still take that chance and should never give up in life . the never give up quality was very beautifully shown in the movie by the main lead Berny .In the movie Berny was a us coast guard who gets caught up in a situation where he has to save the 30 crew members trapped on a sinking ship apart from this he has to face another challenge of surpassing deadly storms and huge sea swell and waves due to bad weather conditions on that day. even though it was almost impossible to save the stranded crew members he has still not given up on them and he is determined to save them no matter what it takes.
conclusions :-
By watching this movie I have understood that as a future seafarer ocean will not always be beautiful and calm for me. The volatile nature of the sea could be very peaceful at times but at the same time it can also be merciless and unforgiving as this movie shows the situation faced by the sailors which is life threatening. As a future officer I can totally relate what kind of fatal and dangerous catastrophe I will face in the sea . In such situation me being a future officer I should be capable of thinking efficiently and rationally as well as being calm at the same time like the coast guard Berny.
