 The Finest Hours

Summary:

  • "The Finest Hours" is a perfect example of the incredible, brave, and unselfish acts belonging to the brave guardians of the sea, the US Coast Guard that enabled the rescue on the 6th of February, 1952.
  • The event which sets things in motion takes place when an oil tanker, the SS Pendleton, is split in two by an intense nor'easter off the coast of Cape Cod; Bernie Webber and his crew set off on an unpredictable adventure to save the sailors who are stranded on a wrecked vessel.
  • Going on with the blocked positions and unlimited oppositions, this about not giving up and having a heroic spirit, in spite of mismatches and injustice.

My Learnings

  • After "The Finest Hours" was over, I realized what awe requires the humanity to expose this way in dire straits to the people around. They help each other to survive.
  • It brings the topic of bravery, team building and selfless behavior back to the attention when the human physique is encased between near impossible difficulties.
  • The movie etches in our memories an inspirational message that that small people together can bring about gigantic changes when they bare their hearts for a standard course.

Impressive Scene:

  • There is one scene that will stay with me forever and it is when Bernie Webber, along with the rest of his crew, goes to the SS Pendleton to rescue its whole crew while the winds of the hurricane reach more than 100 miles per hour and the waves are like mountains.
  • In the hurricane there is a heavy storm of the intensity that is partially terrifying but do not hold back and are determined and intent to complete the mission.
  • In such a circumstance, this place is intended to present the valor and generosity of the rescuers, who put their lives in jeopardy to save others who fall into trouble.

Perspective:

  • "The Finest Hours" transcends being a recount of the history events; instead it becomes a super-long-lasting reference to the human capacity to survive. Even though a sequence might not be there to discuss its intricacies, its emotional level could be very high.
  • It initiates viewer's contemplation on their own courage and compassion provision within themselves to conquer any hurdles towards offering their helping hands to anyone in need. In the end it confirms the strength of past values that talk about bravery, devotion and cohesion that always reverberates human spirit from one generation to another.
