THE FINEST HOURS
SUMMARY :
On Feb.18,1952, a massive storm splits the SS Pendleton in two trapping more than 30 sailors inside the tankers sinking stern. Engineer Ray Sybert bravely takes charge to organize a strategy for his fellow survivors. As word of the disaster reaches the coast Guard in Chatham , Mass, Chief Warrant officer Daniel Cluff orders a daring rescue mission. Despite the ferocious weather , coxswain Bernie Webber takes three men on a lifeboat to dry and save the crew against seemingly impossible odds.
MY LEARNING FROM MOVIE :
The Finest Hours is a movie about the risks taken by people at sea and the force of Nature. It also teaches the importance of trusting, being brave, and making decision based on your own judgement.
The movie also included some leadership lessons, such as :
1) Great leadership and transparent : Webber, played by chris pine , tells his miriam,
"We all get scared out there " .
2) Smart leaders give people security during times of crisis: The Pendletons captain and executive officer are killed when the ship splits .
3) Leaders always dont have time to prepare : A sinking ship doesn't give leaders time to get ready .
PART OF MOVIE I'M IMPRESSED :
This film stands as a shining example of how true stories can be translated on to the screen with integrity and heart. in " The Finest Hours," the unwavering courage of the Coast Guard crew is portrayed with an awe-inspiring realism that captures the depth of their commitment to saving lives.
PRESPECTIVE:
The finest hours tells of a little-known yet fairly incredible 1950s rescue mission, in which a four-man band of coast guard troops went above and beyond the call of duty, steering out into impossible sea conditions in the dead of night to reach a crippled oil tanker .
